Vitamins
This page on HealthMBA.com is about the need your body has to keep a proper balance of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients for good health and optimal energy. Poor eating habits or a lack of ability to properly absorb nutrients can lead to a deficiency over time. Dietary vitamin supplements can help restore balance, but the best policy is to eat right and live a healthy lifestyle.
Vitamins are one of the most important elements of our daily nutrition. We think of nutrition as a way of getting a good balance of food to give our body all the necessary building blocks and fuel to keep healthy and to have the energy we need. These molecular structures move right on to build up the body's systems and restore the supplies that we lose on a daily basis. Vitamins, minerals, and dietary chemical compounds occur naturally in the foods we eat and in the natural juices and that we drink. Fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as meats and grains, are filled with these vitamins and as we include a good balance of them in our daily diet we'll have enough to replenish and fortify our supplies without dietary supplements. Unfortunately, many of us have fallen into a habit of eating foods that are low or completely lacking in vital nutrition content, and we are unable to restore the shortages of essential vitamins.
Certain forms of food preparation can dilute or drain out the vitamins and minerals that our bodies thrive on and many of the kinds of foods we eat when we're in a hurry are made up of things, such as saturated fats and refined sugars, that don't benefit our bodies very much at all. With this deficiency in vitamins and nutrients many of us find that we need to supplement our diets with pills and elixirs that are packed with the missing elements. However, in the case of those who choose to limit the kinds of foods they eat, such as abstaining from eating meats, they need to pay extra attention to the balance of nutrients that they take in. For these situations where we need to add something extra to our diets there are many specialized or general vitamin tablets that contain the chemical additives that we need.
These pills may include an overall mix of vitamins and minerals that will reestablish the low levels in our body's digestive, immune, and nervous systems. Regardless of our diets there are also some of us who are simply unable to absorb a sufficient amount of some vitamins, so it is essential to exaggerate the amount of the missing nutrients. Without these vitamins the body is less able to properly regulate the essential chemical processes. If the body has a low level of these elements over a long period of time a deficiency may develop and the body may be adversely affected, even to the point of developing disease or of other systems becoming weakened and possibly failing as well.
It is important to watch for signs that you may have a vitamin deficiency as well as becoming knowledgeable as to what you need to become and continue to be healthy. Some would say that the artificially engineered multi-vitamin tablets that you can buy at the supermarket are just as detrimental to you as if you were nutritionally deficient, so there are many natural dietary supplements, such as herbs and extracts. However, if you're going to so much trouble to seek out alternative forms of loading up on vitamins and nutrients, you might as well put that energy into preparing well-balanced meals and to developing healthy lifestyle habits to keep yourself in good shape. Vitamin tablets can help you, but they were not meant to replace the more substantial everyday activities that lead to your good health.
